Dave was the first Grand Prize winner of the American Song Festival, the largest songwriting contest of the time. His song, Home To Stay, was judged the best song of over 20,000 entrants by panel judges that included Loggins and Messina, Henry Mancini, Seals and Crofts, and Clive Davis.
Over the years he has been produced by jazz guitar great Al Caiola, legendary engineer-producer Shelly Yakus, and Andrew Woolfolk, one of the founding members of Earth Wind and Fire.

Dave spent five years as a staff songwriter with Motown Records and Chardax Productions, where he had his songs recorded by artists like Smokey Robinson, Johnny Mathis, The Manhattans and Debarge. He had both the album title track and a top five Billboard record with a song he wrote for Smokey Robinson entitled "Blame It On Love."

It was during his time as a songwriter with Motown that Dave became passionately involved with the personal and spiritual training movement in Southern California, and as a result for over 20 years he put his music aside and developed his skills as a seminar leader and speaker, first for Summit Workshops, then for Empowerment Systems, and for the last 10 years as a devoted teacher of Vedanta Yoga. In recent years Dave has once again found his love for composing, recording and performing his music. The outcome of that love are the two CD's highlighted here: Search For The Soul and Spirit.
